The Tokarev is a Soviet semi-automatic pistol developed in the late 1920s by Fedor Tokarev for the Soviet Armed Forces. It was based on John Moses Browning’s designs with modifications for easier production and maintenance. Production ceased in 1954, but derivatives were made in China and other Soviet-aligned nations.

Tokarev was widely used by Soviet troops during World War II. From 1931 to 1945, 1,330,000 Tokarevs were produced in the Soviet Union.

The Tokarev pistol features a short recoil, locked breech, and single-action mechanism. It is known for its simple and robust design.
